Long-Term GHG Emissions Outlook for Greece Results of a Detailed Bottom-up Energy System Simulation

چکیده
This paper presents a baseline projection until 2020 of the future energy supply and demand situation in Greece, the associated trajectories of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and the effects of an environmental tax equivalent to $40/t of carbon dioxide (CO2). The latter scenario represents a rough estimation of the GHG emissions abatement potential in the country’s various energy sectors. The energy market and emissions forecasts were developed using the ENergy and Power Evaluation Program (ENPEP), a bottom-up, integrated supply and demand simulation framework.

Simulating the impact of policy, energy prices and technological progress on the passenger car fleet in Austria—A model based analysis 2010–2050
This paper investigates the effects of policy, fuel prices and technological progress on the Austrian passenger car fleet in terms of energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. To analyse these effects a simulation model is used. We model the car fleet from a bottom-up perspective, with a detailed coverage of vehicle specifications and propulsion technologies. The model focuses on t...
متن کاملThe application of a hybrid energy-economy model to a key developing country – China
Energy security, local air pollution and GHG emissions are three key challenges facing China’s decision-makers. In this study, we first applied CIMS, a hybrid (bottom-up/top-down) energyeconomy model, to test how different policy packages could be designed to alleviate China’s energy and environment challenges. Secondly, we compared the marginal abatement cost curve of this study with those of ...
متن کاملOptimal crop management can reduce energy use and greenhouse gases emissions in rainfed canola production
Energy use and greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions in rainfed canola production in north eastern Iran were analyzed to find measures to reduce energy use and GHG emissions. Four production scenarios, i.e. a high-input, a low-input, a better crop management and a usual scenario, evaluated. All activities and production processes were monitored and recorded over three consecutive years. The usua...
متن کاملDeep carbon reductions in California require electrification and integration across economic sectors
Meeting a greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction target of 80% below 1990 levels in the year 2050 requires detailed long-term planning due to complexity, inertia, and path dependency in the energy system. A detailed investigation of supply and demand alternatives is conducted to assess requirements for future California energy systems that can meet the 2050 GHG target. Two components are developed here...
متن کاملWaste Management Multi-Objective Optimization for Greenhouse Gases Emissions Control
This paper presents the methodology that has been followed and the results that came up from the elaboration of an EC co-financed LIFE+ project in Greece (LIFE09/ENV/GR/294). The objective of the project is to develop a software tool that enables Waste Management Authorities and other stakeholders to substantially reduce GHG emissions resulting from their waste management (WM) activities. The t...
